From the initial designs which can be found in one of my first blog posts it is clear to see that I was drawn to logo ideas which used a variety of bright colours and simply shapes/lines. For this reason when creating my logos this is something which I will stick too.
I decided to create three different logos using different techniques in order to decide which was more aesthically pleasing. The first logo I created can be seen below.
This logo was created really simply using vector shapes. I began by creating one large central circle and then created an oval. I then copied and pasted this oval onto 7 separate layers. This meant each layer had a shape. I could then move each element individually which made life a lot easier. I changed the colour on each of these shapes in order to make my logo vibrant and stand out. The black Stoke added a sense of clean lines and also made these shapes bolder. My next step was to create the text. I used the type tool to do this. The font I used for this was Gill Sans Ultra Bold Condensed in size 9. The colour I used for this text can be seen below. The stoke was much smaller on this text than on the vector shapes and hence this was set to 0.5pt.
The final step to this logo was to create a clipping mask. To achieve this I firstly selected the shape which I wanted to clip too. In this case I used a rectangle. I drew this rectangle over the top of all of my other elements. I then selected everything which I wanted to be clipped to my rectangle and used the Clipping Mask tool which can be found in the Object drop down menu. There are three options in this section, the first is Make, the second is Release and the third is Edit Contents. These are pretty self explanatory.
Although this is a really simple logo I feel it is highly effective and I really like the colours used. My aim is to create other logos and then compare these to decide which is most effective.
The second logo I created can be seen below.
This logo was created in a similar way to the previous. I firstly created a variety of different sized squares using the rectangle tool. I used separate layers for each square and then changed the colour of each in a similar way as above. I arranged this in a way which looked effective and then used the type tool over the top. The font I used for this logo is Gill Sans Ultra Bold and the font size is 13pt. Similar to the previous logo I have used the same 0.5pt stoke.
Like my previous logo the final step was to create a Clipping Mask. To achieve this I firstly selected the shape which I wanted to clip to. In this logo I used an oval. I drew this over the top of the whole logo and then selected everything. With everything selected I then went to Object and Clipping Mask. This then clipped every shape to my circle which I placed over the top. The end result can be seen above.
This logo is effective however I prefer my first design. I think this is based on the fact that it uses harsher lines. I think I prefer the colours in this second idea and maybe this is something which I could combine with my initial idea.
This logo was created in a different way than the other two. To begin with I added 6 different ovals. These were all of the same size and created on a separate layer, this meant that I could then move each element individually which made life a lot easier. I decided that I wanted to try adding effects to these vector shapes as opposed to leaving them as a plain solid colour. To achieve this I used the Effects Panel. I added the Stained Glass effect to each of my ovals. The below image shows this effect. I changed the colours of each oval. This added the aspect of vibrancy which I wanted to add.
With this effect now in place I decided to add my company name. The font I used for this is Arial Rounded MT Bold and the font size is 17pt. The Stoke for this text is the same as each other logo and was hence set to 0.5pt.
Like my previous logo the final step was to create a Clipping Mask. To achieve this I firstly selected the shape which I wanted to clip to. In this logo I used a rectangle with rounded corners. I drew this over the top of the whole logo and then selected everything. With everything selected I then went to Object and Clipping Mask. This then clipped every shape to my circle which I placed over the top. The end result can be seen above.
This design was my least favourite. The issue I have is that it uses the most advanced features however due to my personal taste I feel that I am better off going for my favourite rather than the most technical.
For this reason the company logo I am going for is the first logo. To follow on from this I am now going to look at creating a logo for the film itself.
